1. The short prompts and readings that we responded to were my favorit writing pieces. This is because we I was able to express my opinions and views on different styles of stories. Along with this I thought that the college prompt essay was very helpful for me.
2. I liked learning about tragedy and the readings that came along with it. I feel that understanding the readings you provided really helped me grasp the idea of a real tragedy.
3. I would like to do more readings as an entire class.

Week 9 (inquiry project)
"How has the character overcome a traumatic experience?"
I thought this would be an extremely good topic to pick, because many people experience different forms of abuse through out their lives. Although some may be worse then others, I feel that everyone should know that it is possible to move past these traumatic situations. This topic relates to my readings because the characters in my book have been faced with abusive situations. These situations consisted of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. I feel that my question not only relates to my books, but can relate to a lot of people as well. Overall through reading my books and researching additional information, I have found that although situations may be traumatic, there is always a possibility to overcome them and make them something positive.

Week 8 (annotation of a book)
The Color purple by Alice Walker is a story that introduces a young girl named Celie that faces the issues of abuse and rape throughout her childhood and marriage. Throughout the book Celie was the young lady that would take being mistreated without fighting back, however when Celie is given a chance to reflect, she realizes herself worth and is able to change her life with the simple action of letting her voice be heard. Throughout this book Celie’s life was rocky, but she was able to grow from all the negative experiences she encountered and was able to turn them into something positive.
Just like everyone else, Celie had to work hard to get to where she was and this was done with the help of friends as well as the motivation to rid herself of all the negative people within her life. Through the book Celie battled the issue of being abused physically and mentally, but she was able to overcome the abuse and become a stronger more independent women. This book was related to my question because Celie was face with a situation that she was able to overcome. Through reading this book I admired the style of writing in a diary and the story line played in well. This is because abuse is never a positive action; however the book provided a view of what the abused party went through. The diary writings also seemed as if she felt safe letting out her feelings through a pen and paper. Through reading this book, I still see abuse as a negative occurrence, but I have come to admire those who are able to change the negatives into a positive.

Week 7 (Final Tragic Creation/Essay)
This week I turned in my final tragic creation. My final creation consisted of the twin towers being targeted by terrorist as well as the american flag. I feel this was a nice piece because it tied in well with my essay. Along with this we completed our second in class essay, which was based on a book I read outside of class. The book I wrote mine on was the secret life of bees.

Tragic Creation
For my tragic creation, I have been going back and forth between a digital enhanced photo of 9/11 or either painting a picture of 9/11. The picture that I duplicate will be on selected off of the internet. Along with this I plan to write a small description on my reason for choosing my creation idea. I chose this idea to base my creation on because it is a prime example of a tragedy. Along with this, it ties into my tragedy paper.

Week 5 (Tragedy Essay)
Although tragic flaws can lead to increases of self-awareness and self-knowledge, Joseph Wood Krutch's philosophy of tragedy stricken people being happy with the end result is something I disagree with. This is because from every tragic situation, a positive ending does not come to life. For example, take the death of a loved one. The emotions of grief will remain with those who loved him. This can also be represented but the loss of an extremely important piece of jewelry or family arluene, which is something that can never be replaced. “Logic is the art of going wrong with confidence.”It is a normal thing that everyone face a tragedy through their life, however it can sometimes continue to an even worse situation and never get better. Thus proving the idea of Joseph Krutch has many holes within it.

Week4 (Tragedy)
I feel that the terrorist attack on the world trade center can depict tragedy. This is because not only was it a disaster due to the destruction of the towers, but it was also a tragedy due to the fact that it was an act of terrorism. Along with this the lives of many people were lost. Some of these people were parents, siblings, and even children themselves. When you think about the attack of sep.11, it is completly tragic.

Week 3 (The Best Form of Art That Can Express Grief Is......)
The Best Form of Art That Can Express Grief Is Literature... This is because with in literature, you can not only write and spell things out. But through reading different descriptive pieces of writing, it is easy to see the situation that stories are describing. this is because with the extreme detail, it can paint a picture with in your mind and make you feel the emotions the characters are experiencing. Film is also a way to express grief, because you follow the character throughout the story, so when something goes wrong, you somewhat feel their pain.

Week 2 (Saddest Stories/Movies)
I would have to say that I have not cried over a movie since I was young, but movies do sometimes make me extremely sad. The most recent movie that made me extremely sad was Marley and Me. I have no idea why this movie got to me, but it did. I think it was the way the story was put together. This is because Marley was the family dog that always caused trouble, however you began to love Marley through every bit of trouble Marley caused. However when The movie changed and Marley became sick, it was one of the hardest things to watch. It was because Marley was suffering and it was super sad to see. However the saddest part was the funeral where the kids were talking about Marley.

week 1 (Matrix World)
When it comes to deciding whether or not I would live in an alternate reality where I can plan my life is a strange idea to think of in general. This is because life is something that should simply be lived and embrace. I feel as if life provides both good and bad experiences in order to help people grow. Therefore plugging into a different world is a bad idea in my eyes and I chose not to do so. Although it would be nice to have things go perfect, that was not the way people were built to live their life. I feel we are met to experience everything on our own, not through a script that we chose.
