1. The short prompts and readings that we responded to were my favorit writing pieces. This is because we I was able to express my opinions and views on different styles of stories. Along with this I thought that the college prompt essay was very helpful for me.
2. I liked learning about tragedy and the readings that came along with it. I feel that understanding the readings you provided really helped me grasp the idea of a real tragedy.
3. I would like to do more readings as an entire class.

Week 9 (inquiry project)
"How has the character overcome a traumatic experience?"
I thought this would be an extremely good topic to pick, because many people experience different forms of abuse through out their lives. Although some may be worse then others, I feel that everyone should know that it is possible to move past these traumatic situations. This topic relates to my readings because the characters in my book have been faced with abusive situations. These situations consisted of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. I feel that my question not only relates to my books, but can relate to a lot of people as well. Overall through reading my books and researching additional information, I have found that although situations may be traumatic, there is always a possibility to overcome them and make them something positive.

Week 8 (annotation of a book)
The Color purple by Alice Walker is a story that introduces a young girl named Celie that faces the issues of abuse and rape throughout her childhood and marriage. Throughout the book Celie was the young lady that would take being mistreated without fighting back, however when Celie is given a chance to reflect, she realizes herself worth and is able to change her life with the simple action of letting her voice be heard. Throughout this book Celie’s life was rocky, but she was able to grow from all the negative experiences she encountered and was able to turn them into something positive.
Just like everyone else, Celie had to work hard to get to where she was and this was done with the help of friends as well as the motivation to rid herself of all the negative people within her life. Through the book Celie battled the issue of being abused physically and mentally, but she was able to overcome the abuse and become a stronger more independent women. This book was related to my question because Celie was face with a situation that she was able to overcome. Through reading this book I admired the style of writing in a diary and the story line played in well. This is because abuse is never a positive action; however the book provided a view of what the abused party went through. The diary writings also seemed as if she felt safe letting out her feelings through a pen and paper. Through reading this book, I still see abuse as a negative occurrence, but I have come to admire those who are able to change the negatives into a positive.
